History was made at the 2019 Stithians Show, Cornwall’s biggest one day show, when Steve and Gill Gummow’s January 2018 bull won the beef interbreed championship. The first British Simmental to do so. Killiworgie Jack The Lad by Killiworgie Emperor stood Champion Simmental before doing so well before the panel of both beef and dairy judges. Megan Wellington’s July 2015 cow Chegwidden Daisy’s Gypsy by Clonagh Tiger Gallant with her November 18 born heifer calf Pennytinney Jigsaw at foot took the breed reserve spot. Simmentals also made their mark in the interbreed team of three taking the Archie Opie Cup with Ant Hart’s April born bull Treverbyn Jackson by Skylark Geronimo and Jim and Jean Buckland’s winning pair of yearling heifers by Sperrin View Director. The supreme championship was awarded to an outstanding Jersey cow.
